We've Met

  Puesta Del Sol, Nicaragua
April 25-May 4, 2006

Our time here has been soooo relaxing. Nothing like a good storm to make you appreciate the peace and tranquility of land life. The resort is very isolated, absolutely nothing around but miles of beaches, two beautiful pools, an out door restaurant with very reasonable prices, a top notch marina with only three other cruising boats here.
We basically had the whole place to ourselves. The hotel was empty, but they do get the weekend guests. They had wireless that we could get from the boat, ‘twas great. We spent our time riding our bikes around the local village where fishermen and employees live. We walked, swam, and had cocktail hour with our friends every evening. We worked on the boat, got her all cleaned up. Attempted to re-bed the windows ourselves, but after doing one, we agreed it was a job for professionals. You could get a shuttle into town once a week to pick-up provisions. If El Salvador was the wealthiest country in Central America, Nicaragua is the poorest. Many of the locals only make $3.00/week. The employees of the hotel have it good. We have been here a week, and are heading out tomorrow for Costa Rica. We are going to be traveling with another boat “finisterre” for the safety factor. We have heard that theft is rampant in parts of Costa Rica. After our last storm experience, we are going to try to shore hop, and avoid overnighters if possible. Our first jump from here to Del Coco’s does involve an overnighter, but it should be fine.
Until the next leg,
Jorie and Ken
